While replying to the complaint by the petitioners that the university website had been inaccessible for nearly four days, the university informed the court that it had hired a new server and was uploading all results on it.A division bench of justices Anoop Mohta and Bharati Dangre was hearing a writ petition filed by three law students who has complained against the delay of results and had sought compensation for the losses they suffered due to the delay. The court has kept the matter for hearing on the same day for compliance.The university informed the court that it had declared almost a majority of the results and only 33 results remained out of 477 and it was making efforts to complete the pending results by September 5. It further directed the university that it should send the hard copies of the mark sheets to the colleges within a couple of days to which the university said that the gazette would be sent within two days and the mark sheets within three days. According to the university, they would try to complete all assessment by September 5.. It has also directed the state CET cell to extend the date of filling forms to September 6.

The officials have arrested a few staffers from the University, including clerks and custodians. The minister’s request has come after the Mumbai police cracked a case of the alleged tampering of engineering course answer sheets to increase the scores of students. “

The problem of answer sheets leakage or tampering usually takes place during 72 hours after depositing it at the University exam Centre before sending it for checking. The answer sheets are sent out with the help of local staff and kept back at the exam Centre after re-writing them,” the minister said. The government is also mulling to have a separate security agency and changing guards every 15 days so that the nexus will not be created with the university staff, he added.The minister has told the police chief to give suggestions to make the examination system foolproof like installing CCTV cameras, deploying security agency personnel, etc at the examination centre of the university where the answer sheets are kept before correction. The minister himself has inquired the matter and accepted there are loopholes in the system.. While the current scam was busted in connection with mechanical engineering papers, the police suspects the same could be going in other streams and branches too. Mr Tawde also pointed out the load on the examination centre which deals with various exams with less staff.
